Black Fern chases dream of career as electrician

With more women equipping themselves with the skills to work in trades, NZMA Trades in Mount Wellington was proud to have supported Black Fern player Charmaine McMenamin to achieve her electrical engineering qualification.

McMenamin studied for a certificate in electrical engineering (Level 3) as part of her plan to establish a life-long career as an electrician, and give back to her family and community.

Completing her electrical engineering certificate means she can now apply for an apprenticeship that will take about two years, rather than three-and-a-half.

Charmaine’s education journey was featured in the New Zealand Herald.
