Industry partners praise NZMA students

29 May 2018 — NZMA continued its long tradition of hosting industry partners, and on Thursday 24 May a gathering took place at Sylvia Park campus.  It’s an opportunity to showcase new areas of study, current graduates, and future work opportunities.

NZMA Careers team have excellent partnerships with industry and this helps place our graduates in jobs they love.  Across hospitality, cookery, business, retail, trades, pharmacy, health and early childhood education, NZMA Careers have it covered.

Partners attending included recruitment specialists in hospitality like BeStaff and Barcats who both look for graduates ready to hit the ground running.  Professional Sales Limited, who seek graduates to place in the Business and Information Technology fields.  They also place a lot of international students wishing to gain further on-the-job experience. In addition, hotel chains like the Millennium Hotels, who have worked with NZMA since 2014, and own a number of properties around New Zealand, requiring junior roles through to supervisory.

Jen Wolfe, Manager Bestaff has been working with NZMA since 2014.  Jen says, “We take on NZMA students for everything from banquets and concerts, to sporting events and hotel work. We work hard to fit their ability with the role, and once they graduate from NZMA we help them find permanent jobs”.

Jen added, “Also, the NZMA Careers team are really good to work with. We know they’ll send us great candidates who are ready, willing and able”.
